Hyperspectral satellite imaging company Wyvern selected for Canada Investment Summit 2026 Pitchbook

TORONTO, Sept. 14, 2026 – Edmonton-based Wyvern announced today that it has been included in the pitchbook to be presented at the Canada Investment Summit 2026 in Toronto on Sept. 14 and 15. The Summit, hosted by Prime Minister Mark Carney in partnership with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Public Sector Pension Investment Board, is intended to attract international investment to Canada.
Wyvern’s project, Deployable Optics for Trusted, Sovereign Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), was selected as one of 167 projects to be presented to investors. Wyvern is seeking CAD$230 million in equity, strategic partnerships, and government co-investment for its optical satellites for hyperspectral Earth observations.
Wyvern captures highly detailed images of Earth from space. That requires both spectral information and high resolution: spectral information reveals what an object is made of, and high resolution lets you make out smaller features. Neither alone is enough. High resolution hyperspectral shows both, making it possible, for example, to identify a camouflaged tank, understand the nutrient levels in a crop, or see which individual trees are most likely to burn during wildfire season.
This is typically done using extremely expensive, massive, orbiting telescopes. Wyvern’s project will produce a higher performing imaging satellite at a lower cost utilizing a deployable optics architecture. This would give Canada and its allies sovereign access to the high resolution and precise spectral detail at a fraction of the cost of current systems and, importantly, the satellites would be launchable on Canadian launch vehicles.
“The projects recognized at this summit reflect Canada’s priorities, and Wyvern's is no exception,” said Christopher Robson, Wyvern CEO & Co-Founder. “Today, Canada depends on its allies for very high-resolution optical imagery. Our deployable optics program will change that, delivering sovereign high-resolution imagery at a fraction of the cost of comparable systems, alongside hyperspectral capability that no commercial system offers at this resolution today. This sovereign capability won't just serve defence and security. The same data strengthens Canada’s other strategic sectors like mining, energy, power and utilities and marine infrastructure. Our project is a foundational investment in both national security and economic resilience.”
